   C. David Day received his Bachelor of Architecture magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico and his Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed studies in architecture and art in Florence, Italy, at the Academy of Fine Art & Architecture and in language at the Instituto Dante Alighieri.

David has 23 years' experience in architecture with a focus on sustainability and the interconnection of buildings to culture and the urban fabric. His housing projects include age-in-place facilities for Native Americans in Gallup, New Mexico, a farm worker community in California, urban infill loft and courtyard projects, and individual residences of adobe and rammed earth. Casa Dia, a rammed earth home, has been on several tours, including Albuquerque’s Green-Built Tour and the AIA Tour of Homes.

David also works on a wide range of urban design projects and has organized and managed a number of charrettes throughout the west, including in his home state of New Mexico. These include projects that have laid the foundation for form-based codes in Albuquerque, including the East Downtown Master Plan (EDo), the Central-Highland-Upper Nob Hill Master Plan, and the Albuquerque Downtown 2010 Plan. The 25-square-mile Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo Master Plan was completed for a northern New Mexico tribe and is one of the first form-based master plans for a Native American settlement in the United States.

Prior to joining the firm, David worked on City Centre, Rio Rancho’s new downtown, and the Santa Ana Pueblo Master Plan as well as on design charrettes for new town centers and neighborhoods in Utah, Alabama, and Kerne, England.

David volunteers and works with the City of Albuquerque on various form-based issues and consultations. He frequently speaks on New Urbanist principles at public and neighborhood association meetings and at other public events, including the Native American Housing Conference and the Native American Planning Conference.
