   Eric Watson, a native of Schenectady, New York, completed undergraduate architectural training at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. He received a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University in 1988 where he was most influenced by noted town planners Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk. Eric began his professional career in New York City designing traditional residential projects in the office of Johnson and Wanzenberg. To combine his interest in traditional architecture and town planning, he worked with architect Scott Merrill, designing houses in the Duany, Plater-Zyberk-designed new town of Windsor, Florida. In 1992, he established his professional practice in Seaside, Florida, where he has designed several houses, and commercial/civic buildings. In 1995, he opened his main office in Tampa, Florida. Eric's work is based on the notion that traditional architecture arises from a synthesis of the primary components of the building program, a responsible reaction to the context, and the logical application of traditional construction methods and materials. His work endeavors for a traditional architecture with both clarity of form and material expression. Eric has designed numerous houses and has been published in books, magazines, newspapers, and journals. He is a 2004 Palladio Award recipient for his design of the Malugen House and is a two-time recipient of the Southern Home Award from the editors of Southern Living magazine for his design of the Wright and Brand Houses in Rosemary Beach, Florida. He is a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture, Congress for The New Urbanism, American Institute of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a registered architect in Florida and New York.
